How to Handle Unmatched Transactions in QuickBooks Online Reconciliation

Unmatched transactions are transactions that don’t match anything on the bank statement you’re reconciling.
Here’s an example of what this looks like:

An example of an unmatched transaction when reconciling QBO

In the example, two transactions are checked off, one is left, and the difference is $0.00.

I can verify this is correct by checking the bank statement:

Example bank statement.

That $300.00 transaction does not appear on the statement.

What happens to that transaction when you click the Finish now button?

Nothing.

That transaction will appear the next time you reconcile.

This is not uncommon, especially for transactions that happen towards the end of the month.

If a transaction shows up for multiple months without getting reconciled, there’s likely a problem. You should look into and figure out why that transaction hasn’t shown up on a bank statement yet. It’s most likely a duplicate.
