How to Find Payments Linked to Invoices in QuickBooks Online

Looking for an easier way to find payments linked to invoices in QuickBooks Online?

Let me show how you can easily find this using the Invoices and Received Payments report.

Quick Instructions:

  1. Click Reports -> Reports in the left side menu
  2. Search for invoices
  3. Click Invoices and Received Payment
  4. Scroll through the report or search for the customer/payment/invoice

Click Reports -> Reports in the left side menu.

In the search box enter “invoice” and then click on Invoices and Received Payments.

I like how this report is displayed.

It’s separated by customers.  Then Payments are in bold and the invoices they’re linked to are listed below them.

This report makes it very easy to see what payments/invoices are linked. 

In my example, you can see Anthony Scott Adams made one payment that covers two invoices.

You can click anywhere on a Payment or Invoice line to open the transaction. 

If I click on Anthony Scott Adams’ payment it opens payment #5629 and shows the two invoices it’s attached to.

Want to see how much a customer still owes on an invoice?

If you click the gear in the upper right corner of the report you have the option to add additional columns, like Open Balance.
