QuickBooks Quirk: An Alert for Relay Virtual Card Users

This is an FYI for people who use Relay Bank. I want to show you a weird thing that I’ve seen happen within my QuickBooks when using a Relay virtual credit card.

This is something that I found in the Gentle Frog QuickBooks account when doing my own accounting.

QuickBooks’ Incorrect Payee AutoSuggestions

Here is the transaction where I spotted this:
Recurring transaction in QBO using a Relay virtual card that has the wrong Payee.
This is a recurring transaction that I pay using a Relay virtual card.

The Description says “Corporate.” QuickBooks is suggesting “Workway Offices” as the Payee and the Category or Match “Rent & Lease.”

That red text is from Hector  Garcia’s RightTool Chrome Extension. You won’t see that text unless you have the Pro version of the extension.

Everything about this transaction looks fine. I do pay Workaway Offices $40-50/month. But this is NOT a payment to Workaway Offices.

QuickBooks is pulling the Payee information from the last transaction I had where the Description was “Corporate”.

If I open this transaction I can see the bank details say this is a payment to Zoho Social.
An example of a transaction paid with a Relay virtual card where QBO is suggesting the wrong Payee

Normally QuickBooks would suggest the correct Payee but for some reason, it does not when I use a Relay virtual card.

I wanted to make you aware of this possible issue so you can watch out for it. It may be happening with other virtual cards as well.
